BodyWise Physical Therapy and Acupuncture is happy to announce that Karen Stengle, DPT has recently completed her certification in upper extremity lymphedema treatment.  The completion of the comprehensive e-Integrative Upper Extremity Lymphedema Certification Course shows that Dr Stengle is proficient in the areas of Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) & Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) for Upper Extremity Lymphedema.

This comprehensive treatment to address edema can help restore normal function and decrease the discomfort often associated with this condition.  BodyWise Physical Therapy and Acupuncture is happy to provide this service in a relaxing and healing environment.

Karen Stengle’s Bio:
Karen earned her Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Ithaca College in 2002. She earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy through the University of Scranton in 2009 and has been performing Lymphedema Drainage Massage (LDM) for upper extremities in both out-patient and in-patient settings since 2005.  Since beginning her career in physical therapy, Karen has worked in a variety of patient care settings and has treated patients with both orthopedic and neurologic conditions. She has completed extensive training in the treatment of conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, lymphedema therapy, and in a variety of general orthopedic conditions. She has also started the process of becoming a Certified Bowen Practitioner.

Karen is originally from central New Jersey. She was introduced to the profession of physical therapy after suffering a serious knee injury while a gymnast in high school. She has lived in Baltimore, MD for over 4 years. Karen is happy to have joined the team at BodyWise Physical Therapy and to be a part of an individualized approach to patient care. In her free time she enjoys long distance running, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
